Interactive wall for the "AEM-Technology" company

We have developed an interactive wall for two sites of the "AEM-Technology" company that demonstrates in Russian and English the main branches of the company's activities and products.

Сustomer's background

The "Engineering Company AEM-technology" JSC belongs to the mechanical engineering division of State Corporation "Rosatom". It is one of the leading Russian companies in the field of power engineering.

Task

To develop an interactive wall for the sites located in the cities of Volgodonsk and Petrozavodsk that would allow making vivid presentations for international delegations coming from all over the world.

To deliver, assemble, and commission the equipment required for the task.

To create a script and develop a set of animated 3D models, information windows, and infographics that would comprehensively display the main activities and products of the "AEM Technology" company and of each plant.

What we've provided:

  • Got thoroughly acquainted with the provided materials and searched for the missing ones
  • Created an original script for both presentations
  • Drew a sketch plan and structure of all objects on the stage
  • Developed the products’ 3D models and the buildings of the plants with original texture
  • Created individual animations and special effects
  • Programmed interaction with the users
  • Developed software environment for the presentation
  • Constructed two individual projection structures
  • Prepared all the necessary equipment
  • Delivered, assembled, and commissioned the presentation on two sites
  • Prepared all the technical documents and manuals

Solution

Before sdevelopment an interactive projection wall, we studied in detail the activities and products of AEM Technology.

Based on the data, an original scenario was created, according to which a sequential demonstration of production sites is conducted; the world map shows the delivery regions; parts of the reactor are clearly demonstrated with special effects and detailed infographics are given for each element.

On the sketch plan, we have arranged all the objects and arranged them by mass and composition so that the overall plan looks harmonious and complete.

We have developed three-dimensional models based on the available materials and acquired knowledge in the nuclear power industry:

  • All buildings of Atomenergomash plants in Volgodonsk and Petrozavodsk
  • 16 reactor parts that are produced at these sites (pressure Compensator, main circulation pump, steam generator inlet and outlet manifolds, main circulation pipeline, bubbler tank, emergency cooling system capacity, passive core Bay system capacity, reactor vessel, reactor cover, internal shaft, enclosure, protective pipe block, upper reactor block, steam generator, transport gateway, core melt localization device)
  • Reactor Assembly, as a whole, and in the section where all 16 parts are placed during the presentation

For all models and 2D elements of the presentation, we have developed animations of appearance/disappearance. We have created a set of VFX effects that accompany every user interaction with elements. We have worked out in detail the infographic in two languages, supplemented it with images and animated inserts.

Interaction with the user, animation sequences and display of infographics according to the scenario were programmed by our specialists in the shortest possible time. The presentation was thoroughly tested using Epson ultra-short-focus projectors. After that, our team moved to install equipment and set up presentations in Volgodonsk and Petrozavodsk.

After several days of active work, the interactive projection panel was put into operation at both sites and began to gather enthusiastic spectators - members of the delegations.

How it works

There are 2 Epson short-focus projectors that project onto a flat wall in the showroom. The user goes to the wall where interactive elements are displayed in standby mode. When you click on one of the elements projected on the wall, an animated infographic is launched – objects are beautifully lined up one after another, factory buildings are shown, infographics appear, and the installation locations of each of the presented elements are shown on the reactor Assembly.

A map with the specified delivery countries appears in a separate place. When you click on each country, text information is displayed in Russian or English.

Equipment

Workstation based on intel Core i7, two Epson Ui-1485 short-focus projectors, switching. Projection surface.

Result

The presentation works in the showrooms of the factories every day. It became not only an interactive informational highlight for high-ranking delegations, but also an exciting product demonstration for the plant's employees, who every day feel like a part of a large and very necessary Rosatom team around the world.
