An interactive AR quest that we have developed for Rusatom Service took visitors through the most important stands of ATOMEXPO 2018.

Customer's background

Rustom Service Corporation is an integrator of the general service offer for all enterprises that are in the perimeter of the Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation.

ATOMEXPO is the main event for the world's nuclear industry. It is the largest exhibition and business platform where the current state of the nuclear industry is discussed and trends for its further development are formed. The heads of major companies in the industry, government agencies, international and public organizations, attends the forum. It has been held annually since 2009.

Task

To develop a mobile app for iOS and Android with AR, that will fascinatingly tell visitors in English about Rusatom Service's activities and its significance in the energy industry.

Solution

We have decided to present it in a form of an interactive quest that will allow exhibition visitors to assemble their nuclear infrastructure using 12 different elements. A Russian doll has been chosen as the symbol of integrity. We have developed a design for 12 markers and a 3D Russian doll model with special symbols, which effectively appeared in the AR mode and was accompanied by text inserts. Tasks markers have been placed in different parts of the exhibition, motivating the user to visit the main stands of Rosatom. As a result from completing the quest, users have been rewarded with symbolic prizes from Rusatom Service.

How it works

After downloading the app from the AppStore or GooglePlay, the user runs the app and sees instructions for completing the quest and the exhibition map suggesting the location of markers. Upon finding the desired AR marker, the map element becomes active, its text description appears, and a link to the website of the State Corporation's participant providing instructions. Thus, the user gets a clear idea of the 12 necessary components in the construction of nuclear infrastructure, nuclear safety, legal framework, subsidies, and the nuclear fuel cycle.

Result

Exhibition visitors tired of much serious information downloaded the app with interest and walked around the stands collecting Russian dolls. For all three days of the exhibition, the app had been downloaded by at least 400 people, which is quite a lot considering the narrow specifics. Many of the IAEA representatives also paid attention to our app. Representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency competed for the championship in passing the entertainment quest and received recognition gifts. Rusatom Service still uses the app at other events as a powerful marketing tool.
