AR Interactive Scheme with Videos for a Norilsk Nickel Showroom

Customer's background

Norilsk Nickel is the world's largest producer of palladium and one of the largest producers of nickel, platinum, and copper.

Task

To add to the manufacture model located in the showroom, informational texts and videos clips on the AR mode. To animate a static panel and show the sequence of processes to easier understand its functionality.

Solution

According to the drawings, Ariseum developers have written a point cloud based system that introduces information plates and videos clips during AR on the architectural surface model with an accuracy of 2 mm.

According to a pre-approved script, we have created a detailed animation of the cleaning sulfuric acid process. We have placed an animated video clip in AR on the diagram surface with millimeter accuracy to create the effect of "animating" a static object.

How it works

A visitor to the showroom takes a tablet, approaches the cleaning diagram, and sees a rack with information about AR content along with a brief instruction. As soon as the tablet camera recognizes the marker diagram, an animated video clip is superimposed on top of it, displaying all the processes in sequence.

When user points the camera at the architectural model, the point cloud is recognized in a second, and interactive information windows in AR appear above the model, describing each building in the plant. Video clips illustrate the processes that take place in them.

Equipment

iPad Pro.

Result

Thanks to the animated diagram, interactive windows, colorful videos, and AR, visitors to the showroom get a visual idea of the production processes, methods of acquiring sulfuric acid, lime milk, neutralization of sulfuric acid, limestone delivery, and gas purifying.
