Albus Corvus is a publishing house that publishes books by contemporary authors from Scandinavia, Western Europe, North America since 2013.

Task

To create sets of AR coloring books in Romanian, animating and coloring book characters, voice each character and make a Runner game where a character painted by a child collecting coins.

Solution

The Ariseum team has created 3D character models. When the character is colored, and the device's camera is pointed at the coloring book, the model appears in the AR mode. The peculiar feature is that the characters come to life in AR with the colors in which they were painted by the child.

As a reward for the work done, we have developed the complex multi-level runner game. The team has thought through several levels, each of them increasing the speed, and making additional obstacles. We have animated the character not only in the running state but it can also jump and do somersaults to make the game even more exciting and gripping. Our painters/modelers have drawn a beautiful background where the characters run which is a fairy-tale environment from a coloring book, so that children can plunge into the world of their favorite characters.

How it works

A parent or child downloads the app, points the device's camera at a marker, which is the page of the paper-coloring book, and sees their favorite cartoon characters alive, moving, and talking. The Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, the Owl from Winnie the Pooh, The Three Little Pigs and other characters can be colored to your taste and be seen as your creations in 3D. Animated characters dance and can even speak pronouncing proverbs and say slangs in Romanian.

After all the actions done, children will be rewarded with a runner game, where a colored character runs and collects coins.

Result

The AR makes coloring not only entertaining, but also educational. Children can color their characters and enrich their vocabulary by learning proverbs and slangs in Romanian. Little fans and their parents watch their painted characters with enthusiasm, remember the catch-phrases and play an exciting game.
