3D pipeline and heating cable model for an interactive presentation

Ariseum specialists have developed a pipeline and a multi-layer heating cable model for an interactive presentation of the heating cable.

Customer's background

Metallurgical Works Museum is an enterprise with a full metallurgical cycle, which includes more than 100 large technological units involving processing iron ore materials and coal to rerolling equipment.

Task

To develop a 3D model of a pipeline segment on which the heating cable, consisting of several elements will be fixed. The model is planned for the use on an interactive touch table, therefore it should be a low-poly model.

What we have provided

  • Got ourselves acquainted with the construction and operation principle of the heating cable
  • Developed the geometry of the pipeline and the cable on it
  • Textured the models according to the given materials, taking into account that the texture would have to be dynamically modified.

Solution

Ariseum modellers have created the model of the pipeline segment and fixed on it the multi-layer heating cable comprising the outer jacket, braid, inner sheath, heating matrix, and bus wires.

The cable was textured and coloured according to the materials provided by the customer.

Since it was planned that the colour of the cable in the interactive presentation would change depending on the ambient temperature, the specialists developed dynamic, constantly modifying textures.
